The Bop 'till you drop side of life


Finally I got my hands on the new album from my favourite Norwegian punk rock legion, Null$katte$nylterne's new CD kicks so much ass it's hard to avoid getting bruises. Skrot (Junk) opens up with the great "Sileppa", and it sets the standard for the rest of the 30min to come. It's a slow start in a way, it's not all out action rock from the get go. But the song really rocks with a great riff made to start a party with. And so it continues one great riff after another. "Skrot" have this really great guitar sound that I really love, heavy and tougher than leather. If you don't understand Norwegian, don't think about it. Because when you get into the music you're trapped like a fly in a spider's web. These guys know how to write good songs, from punk rock to a bit more mellow rock (if they ever are that mellow?).

After the three first songs I'm exhausted from rocking out like a maniac, and in need of a break so to speak. You can almost feel the sweat you get when you're at a gig stomping around. But they won't let you take a breather, "Predator" comes along and rocks your brain like… well… just rocks your brain basically. Don't know what to say really, because when I'm at this stage the rock got me in its grip. And I give in to the power of Null$katte$nylterne, and I will never surrender!

And then I get to track seven, and I can finally take a breather. "På Botne E Vi Ganske Lik" is reminding me of Bowie or something, with a punk rock twist. It must be the riff? But it still kicks ass, with a nice "la la la" part to make you smile. But then we're back into the punky rock music, and the party can kick in again like never before. After listening to this CD all I can say is that Null$katte$nylterne have really stepped their game up. This is a real solid record, with no fillers. Since I have listened a lot to their two previous records I was really amped to hear this one. And I got more than I bargained for. So if you don't mind listening to music in a different language, go out and get SKROT now!
